Demonstrating the Importance of Tropical Storms in a Changing Climate

A new CVP- and MAPP- supported study published in Science Advances provides a new understanding of how tropical storm systems can be represented in climate models.

How do high-resolution ocean reanalyses compare in the California current system? 13 January 2023

How do high-resolution ocean reanalyses compare in the California current system?

Sparse and inconsistent coverage of ocean observations makes analysis of climate impacts on ocean physics and marine ecosystems challenging. However, recent advances in high-performance computing and the number and quality of observations have led to the development of high-resolution ocean reanalyses, which offer an opportunity to investigate coastal ocean variability with enhanced detail.
