Caitlin Simpson is currently the Program Director for the Regional Integrated Sciences and Assessments (RISA) program at the Climate Program Office of the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). The RISA program is designed to support integrated research among the physical, natural, and social sciences to analyze how climate affects resource management and how climate science, forecasts, and impacts information could be used to improve management and public policy decisions. Caitlin previously managed the NOAA Human Dimensions program and for many years co-chaired the Human Contributions and Responses working group of the U.S. Climate Change Science Program (CCSP). For over a decade, she has been working at fostering the use of social science methods combined with physical and natural science methods to understand how society could benefit more productively from the evolving state of climate science and forecasting. Caitlin has an M.A. in economics from George Washington University and a B.A. from the University of Virginia.
