Transition of Research Applications to Climate Services
(TRACS) Program

The Transition of Research Applications to Climate Services (TRACS) program is intended to facilitate the provision of climate information and forecasts to users at multiple time and geographical scales. TRACS transitions experimentally mature climate tools, methods, and processes from research to an operational mode. The ultimate goal is the sustainable delivery of information, while building capacity among decision-makers to understand, access, and use climate information products. TRACS seeks not only to support implementation of these transitions, but also to learn from users how better to accomplish technology transition processes for public goods applications and improved risk management. The products that are transferred may have been developed, tested, and previously evaluated under other CSI programs (SARP, RISA, COCA). Partnerships are crucial, as products may be handed off between NOAA entities, universities, other federal agencies or the private sector.
